ENGLEWOOD, Colo. --

An Englewood firefighter was fired and is facing felony charges, accused of downloading pictures of child pornography while on duty.

Carmen DeLeone, 42, an Englewood firefighter since 2004, turned himself in to the police station on Tuesday to answer questions.

Police were tipped off in July about a city-owned computer that was being used to access photographs depicting child pornography. Investigators traced that computer to the fire division and determined that the firefighter in question is DeLeone.

"It has been determined that DeLeone was viewing pornographic images and Web sites while on duty as a firefighter for the city of Englewood," Englewood police said. "There is no evidence at this time to suggest that DeLeone has had any sexual contact with any children at any time."

Officers have also searched his home, car and work area but did not say what they found.

Following his police interview, DeLeone was released pending the completion of the criminal investigation.

The city of Englewood said it has terminated his employment.
