Video: Massive Fire Engulfs Abandoned NY Shopping Mall

Ash and smoke covered the lower side of East Utica as firefighters battled flames bursting through the windows and roof of the former CharlesTown Mall.

UTICA, NY—Firefighters are on the scene early Thursday of a massive fire at the former CharlesTown Mall in Utica.

Firefighters were called to the abandoned mall, located at 311 Turner St., around 1:25 a.m.

Videos of the fire shared on social media show the multi-story building engulfed in flames, with fire bursting from the windows and roof.

The Utica Fire Department said the fire has covered the lower side of East Utica in smoke and ash, which is impacting air quality.

The fire department urges anyone in that area to keep all windows closed and stay inside, if possible.

No injuries have been reported, WKTV reported.
