Six MO Firefighters Injured after House Blast

The injured Vienna firefighters suffered second- and third-degree burns while they were responding to a residential fire that resulted in an explosion Friday.

A house fire and resulting explosion injured six Missouri firefighters Friday.

Vienna fire crews and Maries County sheriff's deputies were responding to a residential fire when the blast occurred, KMOV-TV reports. The cause of the fire and ensuing explosion are under investigation by the Missouri State Fire Marshal.

The injured firefighters were taken to various area hospitals, suffering from second- and third-degree burns, the Vienna Fire Protection District stated in an online update. Four of the firefighters were treated and released, one was being kept overnight for observation and another was being transferred for further treatment, the department added.
