On Thursday September 16, 2004 at 11:57 am, the Fuller Road Fire Department was dispatched to a structure fire at Albany Pallet 26 Railroad Avenue. Albany pallet manufactures pallets on site and has a large stock of lumber both inside and outside their buildings.

At the time of dispatch a smoke condition was visible from a distance. Upon arrival Assistant Chief Kevin Terry requested a second alarm assignment. The fire started in a piece of machinery that was outside of the building, but by the arrival of the first units the center building was already well involved and beginning to fail.

Engine companies responded from Fuller Road, West Albany, Shaker Road Loudonville, & Colonie Village. Ladder companies responded from Fuller Road, Shaker Road Loudonville, and Midway. Rescue companies responded from Fuller Road and Latham.

An interior attack was abandoned due to collapse of the involved building as well as energized power lines falling and arcing adjacent to the fire building. The fire was ultimately extinguished after the power was secured with the use of heavy equipment from the Town of Colonie.
