Flames Destroy Ohio Polishing Business

Workers attempted to contain a business fire in Piqua before calling the fire department on Oct. 8.

The fire at Miami Valley Polishing was reported around 6 a.m. and officials said workers attempted to contain the fire before notifying the fire department.

Firefighters began a defensive attack due to the heavy smoke and fire present in the structure. A tower ladder was summoned from Troy, along with crews from Covington, to help contain the fire.

The business provided heavy duty polishing services and contained a variety of chemicals and solvents and cardboard. The building was destroyed.
