Mike Wieder is the associate director of Fire Protection Publications at Oklahoma State University. He also serves as executive director of the International Fire Service Training Association (IFSTA). Wieder holds an associate degree in fire technology from Northampton Community College and a bachelor's degree in fire protection and safety engineering technology and a master's degree in occupational and adult education from Oklahoma State University. He has written or managed more than 50 fire service training manuals and research reports and written more than 140 articles and three textbooks. Wieder also wrote research reports and training programs for the U.S. Fire Administration and the International Association of Fire Fighters. He is a recipient of the Everett E. Hudiburg Award for Excellence in Fire Service Training from IFSTA. Wieder is a former firefighter with the Stillwater, OK, Fire Department and the Pennsburg, PA, Fire Department.
