San Antonio Fire Department's Engine 34 was responding to a call when an iced overpass sent the rig sliding into an embankment and guard rail before eventually rolling over.

San Antonio firefighters were uninjured after their apparatus rolled over on an icy road over the weekend.

The accident happened early Sunday along an overpass on N. Loop 1604 Access Road, the San Antonio Express-News reports. San Antonio Fire Department Engine 34 was responding to a call when ice on the road sent the apparatus into a slide, turning it 180 degrees.

The apparatus then slipped backwards into an embankment and struck the guard rail and curb before overturning.

"Last night, because of the ice, this happened," the department stated in a social media post that shared a photo of the crash. "Luckily, the crew is OK. The storm is serious. STAY HOME. Our life (and yours) are on the line."

The department did not give details on the condition to Engine 34 following the crash, but the photo shows the rig sustained significant damage to the windshield.

Over the weekend, San Antonio police received more than 800 traffic calls as frigid temperatures continued to grip the city, state and much of the country, the Express-News added.
