Fort Atkinson, WI, November 9, 2025Firehouse Magazine announced the winners of its 12th annual Station Design Awards program, which recognizes outstanding architecture and design from fire departments and emergency facilities nationwide.

Gold, Silver and Bronze awards were issued across eight categories of facilities in this prestigious competition: Career 1, Career 2, Co-Located, Combination, Renovations, Satellite, Training Facilities and Volunteer. All 67 participating entries have been published in the November issue of Firehouse Magazine, or they can be viewed by accessing the PDF below at the link below.

Firehouse Editor-in-Chief Peter Matthews said, “In the 12 years since Firehouse has held the Station Design Awards, the efforts to improve living and working areas for firefighters have improved exponentially. Through the Station Design Conference and publication of the Station Design Awards, fire departments are better educated and prepared for their planning process with architects and builders to understand current conditions and prepare for future factors that are critical in the day-to-day operations of every community’s first line of defense while taking care of the people who work there.”

According to Rich Dzierwa, Firehouse Magazine Managing Editor, who supervised the Station Design Awards project, “We believe that the 2025 edition of the Station Design Awards is even more valuable than past versions. The factors by which facilities are evaluated are more delineated, the information that was sought from architects and other design team members was expanded, and the experience of the judging panel was broadened to permit appreciation of elements and best practices of facilities that might pertain to one region but not to another.”

Winners were selected by a panel of seven judges, including fire chiefs and architects who are experienced in recent design and construction.
