PIERCE MANUFACTURING INC., has launched Support for the Long Haul, a nationwide campaign to benefit the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation (NFFF). The program will help the NFFF assist the families of firefighters who die in the line of duty.
“Since forming a partnership with the NFFF, we’ve raised more than $275,000 to support the families and loved ones of firefighters who made the ultimate sacrifice,” said Jim Johnson, Oshkosh Corp. executive vice president and president Fire & Emergency. “An important facet of Pierce’s mission is to give back to the fire service and the NFFF, and programs like Support for the Long Haul help lead the way.”
Through Oct. 1, 2013, participants can visit www.supportforthelonghaul.com to make a donation to the NFFF. When they do, they will automatically be entered in the Support for the Long Haul sweepstakes for the chance to win a firefighter-inspired, customized Ford F-150 4x4 SuperCrew pickup truck. The sweepstakes winner will be announced in November. No purchase is necessary to enter the sweepstakes. Complete rules for entering and for eligibility are available at www.supportforthelonghaul.com.
STREAMLIGHT INC. has donated $25,000 to the NFFF, including $15,000 in proceeds from sales of the Red Nano Light. Streamlight earmarks $1 from the sale of each Red Nano Light to the NFFF. The company also contributed an additional $10,000 for renewal of its “Bronze Helmet” NFFF sponsorship. Both donations will assist the non-profit organization in commemorating the lives of firefighters who have died in the line of duty, and supporting their families and co-workers.
“Every day, firefighters risk their lives to do their jobs,” said Streamlight President and CEO Ray Sharrah. “Streamlight is honored and humbled to support the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation’s programs, which celebrate the lives of those who made the ultimate sacrifice, and assist their families and surviving colleagues.”
E-ONE and Arizona dealer H&E have announced H&E’s expansion into Colorado and Wyoming.
“We’re very excited about the new territory and H&E’s continued commitment to the fire service,” said Chris Brogus, H&E general manager for Colorado. “H&E is making a significant investment in the fire service division, this is evident by our recruitment of Jason Byrne for both his fire service and E-ONE sales background, our vast stock of E-ONE parts, the purchase of mobile pump testing equipment, and two dedicated sales and service facilities, one in Denver and one in Colorado Springs.”
While H&E is a large, national organization with 74 locations nation wide and 12,000 employees, both Brogus and Byrne said the company prides itself on providing a local, intimate, customer-centric experience.
“H&E is a large national organization, but operates on a local scale with emphasis on providing a local experience for customers,” said Brogus. “H&E’s size affords us access to great resources from both a personnel and equipment standpoint. But we have developed and are continuing to develop a team dedicated to the unique demands of the first responder industry.”
Sam Itani, E-ONE vice president of global sales, said, “H&E is known for offering top-quality equipment brands and personalized customer service in the specialty vehicle market. Their expansion of the E-ONE line into Colorado and Wyoming is a move we’re excited about because H&E represents all the characteristics of a successful dealership and will continue to put our customers first. In two years, H&E has progressed by leaps and bounds in Arizona and we look forward to assisting with their new venture in Colorado and Wyoming.”
INVISTA has acquired Ashburn Hill Corp., associated intellectual property (including the TECGEN brands) and a manufacturing operation in Texas.
“INVISTA has an aggressive growth strategy that includes identifying new business opportunities to allow us to continue building a product portfolio that delivers value to customers,” said Jeff Brown, executive vice president, INVISTA Performance Materials. “The TECGEN flame-resistant brands have quickly gained trust in the marketplace, and by coupling that expertise with INVISTA’s existing global workwear capabilities, we have high expectations for the specialized garment segment.”
The acquisition includes two flame-resistant brands: TECGEN Select clothing developed for manufacturing, transportation, mining, oil and gas, and energy utility operations; and TECGEN Xtreme, NFPA/UL-certified, lightweight apparel that repels moisture and designed for firefighters for wildland and technical rescue applications. The brands will fall under INVISTA’s existing Performance Materials business segment, which includes the CORDURA fabric brand.
