The Almarante Volunteer Fire Department, in Laurel Hill, Fla., has taken delivery of a 2016 Kenworth commercial single-axle cab chassis tanker/pumper built by Deep South Fire Trucks. The apparatus is powered by a PACCAR PX9 engine with an Allison 3000EVS transmission. To fight fire, it has a Hale 1,250-gpm pump and a 1,250-gallon tank. It is also equipped with a 10-inch Newton dump valve with a swivel on the rear, a Zico portable tank lift, Whelen LED emergency lights and three Whelen Pioneer dual head LED scene lights.

The purchase was made possible with a 2014 FEMA Assistance to Firefighter's Grant. It represents the first brand new, full-sized engine in the station since its inception in 1984. It replaces a gasoline-powered, non-NFPA compliant 1983 commercial pumper.
