Apparatus - Lemon Springs, NC, VFD Puts Custom Pumper in Service
Firefighters with the Lemon Springs Volunteer Fire Department, Sanford, NC, have purchased a new pumper built by Toyne on a Spartan Metro Star cab and chassis with a 10-inch raised roof. It is powered by a Cummins ISL 380-hp engine and a Allison 3000EVS transmission. To fight fire, it has a Waterous CS 1,250-gpm pump and a UPF 1,000-gallon tank. It also has a Harrison 6,000-watt hydraulic generator and Akron telescoping lights.
The Lemon Springs Volunteer Fire Department was founded in 1981 and works to protect a community of 28,518 residents, covering 24 square miles, including the city of Sanford which was incorporated in 1874, 31Â Â years before Lee County. The apparatus was sold by the Melton Fire Group, Columbia, SC.
