Va. Firefighters Injured in Fire Truck Crash

VIRGINIA BEACH -- Four people were injured when a firetruck hit a car at 19th Street and Pacific Avenue on Friday night.

Tim Riley, a spokesman for the Fire Department, said Engine 12 was responding to a transformer fire on 27th Street and Baltic Avenue around 9:40. The power had been out in the area.

Four people were taken to the hospital, one with serious injuries.

Besides the four in the car, three firefighters also were taken to a hospital as a precaution, Riley said.

The city's crash team is investigating the cause of the accident.
