Firefighter Joseph Baumgardt, 25, was not injured but was hospitalized as a precaution after the crash occurred as he rounded a corner while responding to a fire in the Village of Brandon, according to Fond du Lac Reporter.
"When he rounded the corner, the water in the truck shifts. It displaced the weight and that's why it (the truck) went up on two wheels and then landed on its side," Fond du Lac County Sheriff's Deputy Mark Strand told the newspaper. "The momentum kept it sliding into a power pole. Fortunately, at noon Saturday there wasn't anybody walking, riding bikes or driving in the area that could have led to injuries."
Fire Chief Jim Ramsey declined to comment on the crash or how much it will cost to repair the truck, but said the response time to fires will not be changed with the truck out of operation.
