Flames Engulf Cab of New York Fire Engine

The cab of a West Harrison apparatus was badly damaged after its engine caught fire Tuesday afternoon while being serviced, according to The Journal News. The fire engine was on a test drive on Route 9W when the incident occurred around 3:15 p.m. About 25 firefighters from the Nyack Fire Department were dispatched, according to the news report. Crews extinguished the fire by 4 p.m. and the engine had to be towed away.

The cab of a West Harrison apparatus was badly damaged after its engine caught fire Tuesday afternoon while being serviced, according to The Journal News.

The fire engine was on a test drive on Route 9W when the incident occurred around 3:15 p.m.

About 25 firefighters from the Nyack Fire Department were dispatched, according to the news report.

Crews extinguished the fire by 4 p.m. and the engine had to be towed away.

Fire Chief Jim Petriello told the newspaper that the engine cost the department about $500,000 but did not have an estimate of damages.
