PITTSBURGH --

Two firefighters and another driver were taken to UPMC Mercy Hospital after a collision in Pittsburgh's Elliot neighborhood.

The accident happened near the intersection of Lorenz and Chartiers avenues. Channel 11 News was there as the victims were being placed in an ambulance.

According to witnesses at the scene, the fire truck had its lights and siren on when passing through a stoplight. When the fire truck began moving slowly through the intersection, a car passing through the green light collided with the truck.

"The guy in the fire truck came to a complete stop at the red light. The guy in the fire truck continued out and the guy just blew into the front of the fire truck. Hit the whole front of the fire truck," said witness Robert Amend.

There is no word on the conditions of those hurt.
