DANIA BEACH, Fla. --

Two people were injured Monday morning when a tire flew off a Dania Beach fire truck that was responding to a call.

A representative of Dania Beach Fire Rescue said the truck was moving east in the 2300 block of Griffin Road with its lights and sirens on when it lost a tire.

The tire bounced across the westbound lanes of Griffin Road and hit the roof, wall and window of USA Air Duct, according to the business' manager. The manager said the tire crashed into the business, hitting two employees.

The Dania Beach Fire Rescue representative said one person was taken to a hospital and another was treated at the scene.

Fire rescue officials said no one in the fire truck was injured and that the vehicle was badly damaged. The representative said the truck has had no previous problems and that the department would investigate why the wheel came off.
