Atlanta Firefighter Injured After Engine Struck

An Atlanta firefighter was injured Thursday morning when his engine was struck by a passing vehicle, according to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.The incident occurred I-75/85 southbound past Langford Parkway shortly before 5:30 a.m.Crews responded to a reported car fire but found that there was a disabled vehicle, but no fire.

Crews responded to a reported car fire but found that there was a disabled vehicle, but no fire.

The engine remained on the scene to block traffic for the stranded motorist, when an oncoming car struck the left front of the apparatus while the driver was still inside, Battalion Chief Paul Cuprowski told the newspaper.

The firefighter sustained a side injury and possibly a head injury, and was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital for treatment.

His injuries were not believed to be serious.

The driver that hit the engine was not injured.
