Two Columbus County firefighters were hurt when the pumper they were in, responding to a grass fire, wrecked. Neither suffered serious injuries
According to the local television station, WECT, the two Old Dock firefighters were in the pumper when the apparatus flipped on Dock Road at about 5:30 pm as it responded to the call. No other vehicles were involved.
The firefighters, who were not identified, were taken by ambulance to Columbus Regional Healthcare System in Whitefield. They were reportedly conscious and alert on the way to the hospital.
The cause of the wreck is still under investigation, according to the N.C. State Highway Patrol.
