The Dekalb County firefighters were taken to the hospital after the driver of the apparatus lost control of the vehicle and hit a tree Monday night.

Three firefighters were taken to Grady Memorial Hospital after a firetruck crashed around 9:30 p.m. Monday, authorities said.

DeKalb County Fire Capt. Dion Bentley told AJC.com the firefighters were injured in a single-vehicle crash along Flat Shoals Road while en route to a fire. The driver lost control and hit a tree, he said.

The three firefighters have moderate injuries but are stable at the hospital, Bentley said.

Traffic is being detoured to Clifton Church Road, Channel 2 Action News reported. It’s unclear when this section of Flat Shoals Road will reopen.
