OH Firefighters Hurt after Vehicle Sideswiped

Oct. 30, 2019
The Franklin Township firefighters were returning from a call when the brush fire truck they were in was struck by a vehicle that fled the accident scene.

After responding to an open burn Tuesday night, a Franklin Twp. fire truck was sideswiped by a hit-skip driver, officials said.

Township Administrator Traci Stivers said the fire crew was returning from the scene on Alyce Street, and another vehicle went left of center and sideswiped the truck.

The other vehicle fled from the scene. As of Wednesday morning, the other driver or vehicle had not been identified. She said the brush fire truck had minor damage but no estimates for repairs have been made.

Stivers said two township volunteer firefighters were taken by an ambulance to Kettering Emergency Department in Franklin for minor injuries. Both firefighters are doing well and were treated and released.

The Warren County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the crash. Anyone with any information about the crash or the other driver should contact the sheriff’s office at 513-695-1280.
