Dec. 14, 2020
While responding to a previous accident, the same Klamath County Fire District No. 1 apparatus was struck by two different tractor-trailers in separate incidents only minutes apart.

An Oregon fire department apparatus was struck by two different tractor-trailers in separate accidents minutes apart from one another over the weekend.

The first incident involving a Klamath County Fire District No. 1 apparatus happened just before 8:45 a.m. Saturday along Highway 97 in Klamath Falls, the Herald and News reports. Firefighters and Klamath Falls police were working the scene of a previous crash when a tractor-trailer struck an apparatus, as well as three police cruisers.

The driver of the tractor-trailer fled the scene, and so far, no arrests have been made in connection with the accident. No injuries were reported in this incident.

A second crash involving the same apparatus happened only minutes later when the rig was struck by another tractor-trailer. The driver in this accident remained at the scene and was issued a citation.

Although no one was injured, the accident did cause significant damage to the apparatus, according to the department.
