MD Firefighter Injured in Fall from Apparatus

Prince George's County Fire Department crews were headed to a fire in Bowie when a firefighter was injured after falling from Engine 818 at an intersection in Fairwood.

A Maryland firefighter was injured after falling from an apparatus during a call Tuesday.

The incident involving a Prince George's County firefighter happened at about 4:30 p.m. in Fairwood, WUSA-TV reports. Crews were headed to a house fire in Bowie when the firefighter fell from Engine 818, which he was on.

The firefighter was taken to the hospital for evaluation, the Prince George's County Fire Department stated in an online update. No details were release about the extent of the injuries.

"The Safety Officer was on scene and a safety investigation is underway," the department said. "Engine 818 is being transported to the apparatus maintenance facility for full mechanical evaluation."
