For Sale: A new $1.7 million ladder truck. Reason: Too tall for the Medina firehouse.
"Our existing structure has a doorway of 10 foot, 6 inches. The new bay would have 13-foot doors, so that would also be adding onto the taxes, including the ladder truck," IAFF Local 2161 President Steven Miller told WHAM in an earlier interview.
Options considered by village officials included selling the truck or modifying the station on Main Street.
On Tuesday, the council voted to sell the rig through a broker which they believe would be the best way to move forward. They had decided not to expand the station which would have meant higher taxes for residents.
When the sale goes through, they will probably buy a used one.
