Milwaukee Firefighters Tackle Five-alarm Building Blaze

A defensive operation was initiated at the old mill-style building, Milwaukee Fire Chief Aaron Lipski said.

Firefighters encountered challenges during their operation at a Milwaukee building Wednesday.

As heavy fire was visible on multiple floors of the old mill-style building, a defensive operation was initiated, Fire Chief Aaron Lipski told WISN, adding that a collapse zone was established.

The wind blew embers that sparked grass fires next to nearby train tracks.

Firefighters also kept an eye on houses near the incident scene as many of them made of wood.

The cause remains under investigation.
