Watch: Independence, MO, Aerial Hits Parked Car, Leaves Scene

Police were notified only after the car's owner went to the Independence fire station to ask about the hit-and-run.

A hit-and-run by a ladder truck in a cul-de-sac was captured on a security camera.

"Nobody knocked on any door, and nobody left no number, nothing," Ashanti Grant, the owner of the damaged Toyota Camry, told KMBC.

After the rig hit the car, leaving dents, gouges and scrapes as well as a broken mirror, firefighters down the street showed up to spot the driver.

Seeking answers, Grant went to a fire station which prompted police to be called. There are no records indicating the firefighter driving the rig contacted law enforcement.

"I feel like it needs to be treated like a crime. Just because you wear a uniform doesn't mean you get special treatment."

Grant added that she had planned to sell the car because she needs money.

A city spokesperson said she can file a claim.
