GA Ambulance Crashes into Pole, Newspaper Building
A Georgia ambulance struck a power pole before crashing into a newspaper building over the weekend.
The single-vehicle accident involving an AdventHealth Murray EMS ambulance happened at around 7:30 a.m. in Chatsworth, Saturday, the agency said in a statement. The unit was traveling south when it crossed the road's center line and first struck an electrical pole. The ambulance then slammed into the side of the Chatsworth Times building, damaging the structure and destroying a newspaper box outside, according to an update by the news outlet posted to social media.
No one was injured in the accident, and no details were released concerning damage done to the ambulance. Two EMS workers were aboard the unit at the time of the incident, but it's unclear whether they were returning from or headed to a call.
"The crew was relieved from their shift (following the accident) and AdventHealth officials have spoken with the families of the crew and offered their support," the agency said in a statement.
AdventHealth Murray EMS President and CEO Mike Murrill said his agency is cooperating with Chatsworth police concerning its investigation of the incident.
