A new vehicle innovation will be unveiled this week at the EMS World Expo 2026 in Orlando, according to the Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services (Dubai Ambulance). The world's first off-road, multi-mission vehicle, SANAD, will make its premiere at the Orange County Convention Center from Sept. 30–Oct. 2. It was created in Dubai and constructed in partnership with manufacturers TORSUS, FERNO, Bristol, Frestems, Whelen, Acetech and UXE. Every day, the vehicle will be on display and exhibited at the stand of FERNO, a major development partner on the project that contributes crucial systems that comprise the functional heart of SANAD's medical cabin. FERNO is a global leader in EMS equipment.

SANAD is a versatile, multi-mission vehicle made for situations that are beyond the capability of a conventional ambulance. Designed to address two fronts simultaneously, SANAD is built around the mission rather than the road. It is an off-road platform that can reach patients in places that traditional ambulances cannot, such as high-incline mountains, deserts or disaster areas, and it is a fully equipped medical cabin that can provide a high level of critical care once it arrives. Without sacrificing the medical capabilities required of a contemporary critical care unit, SANAD provides assistance for natural disaster relief, mass casualty occurrences, search and rescue operations, and routine medical emergencies.

By bridging the last gap between ambulance access and the patient's location—whether the obstacle is geography, a mass-casualty catastrophe, or a natural disaster—SANAD expands emergency response for both EMS and disaster-response agencies. With the ability to accommodate up to 14 individuals, including two patients on stretchers, as well as smart monitoring, integrated tracking and an assets-management system, SANAD serves as a self-sufficient medical post instead of just a transport vehicle, reducing treatment time in situations where minutes count.

A Car Designed with "Dubai-it" in Mind The "Dubai-it" ideology, which was announced in 2026 by His Highness Sheik Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vise President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Dubai, is fully reflected in SANAD's development as part of its innovative genesis story. Fundamentally, "Dubai-it" calls on all institutions in the emirate to transform ambitious ideas into fully realized solutions on record deadlines, rejecting the notion that speed and quality are a trade-off. In response to that request, Dubai Ambulance quickly transformed SANAD from a concept to a fully functional, road-ready truck.

A team of specialized manufacturers worked together to design and build SANAD, each of whom contributed a key system to the final product:

The end product is a permanent 4x4 platform with air suspension that can be electronically adjusted, a military-grade loading system, integrated smart lighting, tracking and asset management systems and advanced scene surveillance and cabin monitoring systems that combine the vehicle's off-road capability with hospital-grade interior care.
