Three Strongsville firefighter-paramedics and a Strongsville police officer were injured when the police cruiser collided with the ambulance while both vehicles were responding to different calls.

Three paramedics and a police officer were injured when the officer's cruiser collided with an ambulance earlier this month, and the crash was caught on video.

The accident happened at about 2 a.m. Feb. 9, as a Strongsville ambulance was going to a medical emergency and a Strongsville police officer was headed to a call involving shots fired, WJW-TV reports. The siren and lights of the ambulance were on at the time, but the police cruiser only had its lights on.

When the collision happened, the ambulance driver lost consciousness, and a medic in the front passenger seat drove the vehicle off the road. The police officer told an Ohio State Highway Patrol trooper that he was going between 78 mph to 81 mph at the time of the craft.

The three paramedics and the police officer were taken to the hospital following the accident. Strongsville Police Chief Mark Fender told KCNC that the officer had not returned to work and was still recovering.

The Strongsville Fire Department did not return messages to comment on the firefighter-paramedics, KCNC added.
