EMS Workers, Civilian Injured in Fatal NY Ambulance Crash

A 23-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene after her car was in a collision at a Rochester intersection with an AMR ambulance responding to a call.

Two EMS workers and two civilians were injured in a fatal two-vehicle accident involving a New York ambulance early Thursday.

The incident happened at a Rochester intersection just before 1:30 a.m., WROC-TV reports. An American Medical Response ambulance, which wasn't carrying a patient, was responding to a call when it collided with a car.

A 23-year-old woman inside the car was pronounced dead at the scene, and another occupant was taken to the hospital with injuries that weren't considered life-threatening. A third occupant was uninjured.

The two EMS workers in the ambulance also were injured. They were taken to the hospital, and they're expected to recover.

According to WHEC-TV, the ambulance and the car both sustained heavy front-end damage. The cause of the accident is under investigation.
