A Florida ambulance was stolen from a hospital before slamming into multiple vehicles and a house last week.
The incident involving an Orange County Fire Rescue ambulance happened shortly after 1 a.m. Friday, WOFL-TV reports. The unit was parked outside a hospital in Ocoee as firefighters were inside with a patient.
A 28-year-old Orlando man is accused of driving off with the ambulance. He then crashed into a nearby home and a car, which was parked outside. Reversing the ambulance, the man struck another vehicle, injuring that driver.
Jermaine Reece-Frith was later arrested and charged with grand theft, leaving the scene of an accident with damage and other counts. It wasn't clear how he was apprehended.
No details were given on how and when police recovered the ambulance or how much damage the unit sustained. In a statement, Orange County Fire Rescue said that it transports more than 200 patients daily without incident.
