A New Orleans ambulance was stolen by a woman Tuesday night while two EMTs and their patient were in the back.
The ambulance was in a hotel parking lot when the woman hopped in behind the wheel and took off, according to WVUE.
The crew kept police notified of their location. Other EMS units also followed the rig and one pulled in front of it when the woman stopped to block it until officers arrived.
New Orleans police said the woman was arrested and taken to University Medical Center for a psychiatric evaluation. Her identity was not immediately disclosed. Police said arrest warrants are being obtained to book the woman with simple kidnapping and “various traffic offenses” upon her discharge from the hospital.
