Two boats were engulfed in flames – and one sank – in a fire at a floating dock in the Columbia River on Sunday, officials said. The fire also destroyed the dock.

The fire started at Scipio’s Goble Landing at 70360 Columbia River Highway in Rainier around 12:30 p.m., the Vancouver Fire Department said in a statement.

Clark-Cowlitz Fire and Rescue and Scappoose Fire each sent a fire boat to help put out the blaze, officials said. A Vancouver Fire boat assisted while the other two boats dumped water on the blaze, officials added.

One of the boats that caught fire sank during the firefighting operation, while the other was “partially submerged” by the time the flames were put out.

Officials said nobody was injured in the blaze. The fire’s cause is under investigation.
