Frontline Communications Showcasing Walton County, FL, Sheriff Mobile Command Unit at NSA 2026
At the National Sheriffs' Association (NSA) Annual Conference and Exhibition in Omaha, NE, from June 8–11, 2026, Frontline Communications will display a specially designed C-45X-4 Mobile Command Unit that was constructed for the Walton County, FL, Sheriff's Office. Delivered in March 2026, the vehicle was intended to facilitate multi-agency coordination, incident management and communications during planned events and critical situations.
"Our commitment is always to the safety of the people of Walton County. This mobile command unit represents a major step forward in how we uphold that commitment,” said Walton County Sheriff Michael Adkinson, Jr. “Its advanced communications and command capabilities give our teams the tools they need to make informed decisions quickly and keep our residents and visitors safe during emergencies, large and small."
The initiative is the result of cooperation between Ten-8 Fire & Safety, Frontline Communications and the Walton County Sheriff's Office. Ten-8 Fire & Safety, the local dealer and project partner, collaborated extensively with Frontline Communications and the sheriff's office during the specification, design and technology integration phases to make sure the unit was customized to meet the operational needs of Walton County.
The 45-foot mobile command unit, which is powered by a PACCAR MX-13 510-hp engine and built on a Velocity custom chassis, includes four slide-out sections and a 25-kW generator to enable prolonged field deployments. Eight workstations, a sizable conference room with extra bench seating, a full galley and a wet lavatory to assist staff during extended operations are all located inside.
Other key amenities include:
- Four roof-mounted air conditioners for climate control in demanding environments
- Two full-height equipment racks and exterior monitor compartment
- 42-foot mast with FLIR HD/thermal camera
- 360-degree perimeter camera system
- Hi-Viz emergency lighting package with 84-inch Omen lightbar
In order to support command operations and situational awareness, the car also incorporates a wide range of cutting-edge technologies, such as an Extron video switcher, a Kymeta u8 flat-panel satellite antenna system, a Dejero Gateway LTE bonded cellular router, Apple TV and DirecTV capabilities, VoIP phones and several Virtual Technologies touchscreen displays.
“Today’s public safety agencies require mobile command platforms that deliver reliable communications, advanced technology integration and operational flexibility,” said Tim Learned, fire apparatus sales representative for Ten-8. “This unit was designed to help Walton County personnel maintain coordination and visibility during complex incidents while supporting efficient decision-making in the field.”
Visitors to the Frontline Communications exhibit at NSA 2026 in Booth #1729 will have the chance to take a tour of the Walton County Sheriff's Office mobile command unit and get a firsthand look at its integrated communications and command systems.
