A deputy fire chief was seriously injured Friday night in a head-on crash while responding to a call.
Dunn Emergency Services Deputy Chief Rodney Eason was responding to a fire when a pickup truck crossed the center line and hit his vehicle, CBS 13 reported.
Eason and the occupants of the other truck were transported to a hospital for treatment.
In 2008, Dunn Rescue Squad, Inc. merged with the City of Dunn Fire Department to form Dunn Emergency Services, Inc. There are a dozen career firefighters and nine career medics as well as volunteers, according to the DES website.
“We would like to extend our most sincere appreciation to Erwin Fire Department, Benson Fire Department, Plain View Fire Department, Coats Grove Fire Department, Summerville Bunnlevel Fire Department, Harnett County EM, and Harnett County EMS for their invaluable assistance tonight. Your prompt response in our moment of need is greatly appreciated. Please accept our apologies if any departments were unintentionally left out. Thank you," DES officials wrote in a statement.
