Bicyclist Dies after Colliding with FDNY Rescue Company

Police said the bicyclist crashed into the side of FDNY Rescue 4's apparatus while it was responding.

A cyclist was killed after he crashed into the side of FDNY Rescue 4's rig while they were responding to a call Saturday in Queens.

The accident happened around 4 p.m. in Middle Village when the rig was responding with it's warning lights activated.

NYPD officials told the New York Post that the cyclist, a man in his 50s, crashed into the side of the fire apparatus as it turned on to Juniper Valley Road from 80th Street.

The cyclist, police said, rode out from behind a car and crashed into the truck and ended up underneath the rig.

“I just feel so bad for everyone. For the people in the fire truck, the families involved, everyone,” passerby Miguel Vegas told the newspaper.
