KME has received an order from the Los Angeles Fire Department for 15 more custom pumpers. The award is part of a multi-year contract from which KME has already delivered almost three dozen engines. The pumpers will be built on KME’s Predator Severe Service chassis, designed for high-volume fleets, and will be similar to units delivered to the city in 2011 and 2013.

KME also has announced two additions to its sales and service network.

Proliner Rescue Vehicle Sales & Service (www.prolinerrescue.com) of Medford, NY, will represent KME in Nassau and Suffolk counties. Its sales and service team is based at a 20,000-square-foot facility that includes a showroom, offices and repair facility minutes from Long Island Expressway Exit 65.

Matheny Motors (www.mathenymotors.com) is now KME’s dealer in northern Virginia, Washington, DC, and West Virginia. It has more than 250 employees and seven facilities in Ohio, West Virginia and Virginia.

HAIX, a manufacturer of firefighting, rescue, law enforcement, hunting, and forestry footwear has redesigned its website, www.haix-bootstore.com, to create a cleaner, more user-friendly platform that is easier to navigate. Besides presenting on all-new look, the ecommerce website offers:

• More comprehensive product information so customers can make informed decisions on products before they buy

• New search and filter features that let customers easily find the products they are looking for or that cater to their interest

• HAIX customers can provide feedback on the products they buy and are easily able to see what others have to say.

• HAIX customers can create an online account to streamline future purchases

• New HAIX wish list feature lets customers keep track of products for future purchases

SMEAL FIRE APPARATUS CO. has named RedStorm Fire & Rescue Apparatus Inc. (www.redstormfire.com) as its authorized sales and service dealer in northern and eastern Virginia, Maryland, Delaware and the District of Columbia. RedStorm has offices in Gainesville, VA, and Baltimore, MD.

Also, Smeal has announced that it is now on the General Service Administration Schedule – Fire Trucks, GSA 23V, Category 190 01 Firefighting Apparatus and Attachments Schedule.

“Our goal at Smeal Fire Apparatus is to provide solutions to government needs,” Mark Huber, president of Smeal, said. “By being on the GSA Schedule, our response to those needs will be faster, easier, and more effective.”

Smeal will provide on the GSA Schedule a full line of apparatus to include pumpers, tankers, aerial ladder platforms at 85 and 100 feet and aerial ladders at 55, 75, 105 and 125 feet.

5.11 TACTICAL and NASCAR have announced a multi-year partnership that will designate the California-based company as the Official Tactical Apparel & Gear Supplier of NASCAR. As part of the new official partnership, 5.11 Tactical will produce high-performance uniforms for NASCAR officials across all three national series of NASCAR, as well as its national touring and weekly series.

Throughout the 10-month race season, NASCAR officials are challenged with one of the most physically demanding roles in the sport. The new uniforms will be designed to stand up to rigorous racing conditions, adapt to changing climates, and provide the durability and flexibility that are critical to perform the most strenuous of job functions in the garage.

5.11 Tactical will feature the NASCAR bar mark across its multiple digital channels including its corporate website and will display its purpose-built tactical apparel and gear at-track each weekend. 5.11 Tactical is currently in the process of developing a new NASCAR apparel line that is expected to be available in 2014.

SAFE FLEET, a provider of safety solutions for fleet vehicles, has announced the appointment of John R. Knox as president and chief executive officer.

“I am honored to join Safe Fleet at this exciting time in its development,” said Knox. “I look forward to working with our employees, customers and suppliers to continue delivering industry leading products and growth. Our plan is to significantly expand our product offering through strategic acquisitions, as well as internal development.”

Knox previously was chairman of Royal Adhesives and Sealants after its acquisition of ADCO Global – a global supplier of adhesives and coatings. Prior to ADCO, Knox was president and chief operating officer of Sovereign Specialty Chemicals and president of Valspar Europe.

The Sterling Group formed Safe Fleet in September 2013 through the acquisitions and merger of ROM Corp. and Specialty Manufacturing Inc. Three months later, Safe Fleet completed its first add-on acquisition, FoamPro.
