Langston, OK, Fire Chief Seriously Injured when Pumper, Semi Collide
A head-on crash between a Langston Fire Department rig and a semi left four firefighters injured, including one seriously.
Langston Fire Chief Bobby Anderson remains hospitalized following the crash last week while he and three firefighters were returning from assisting in Enid following a tornado, KOCO reported.
Assistant Chief Brian Orndoff was released after treatment at Baptist Hospital. Capt. Jay Bartles and Firefighter Eric Adams suffered minor injuries.
“It’s an internal thing. We all feel we knew that there were people that needed help up there. Our brothers on the Unit Fire Department needed our help. Help those people. And they would come if we needed them,” Capt. Robert Rogers said.
"We will get through this, as many other departments have before. It’s a learning curve. It’s one no department hopes to go through, but we’re thankful at this moment that we didn’t have to have a worse situation given the situation that we had."
