A pilot and co-pilot were killed and at least two Port Authority police officers were seriously injured Sunday night when a plane hit a fire truck at LaGuardia Airport.
The emergency vehicle -- staffed by Port Authority police officers -- was responding to an incident when it was hit, NBC reported.
Dozens of passengers aboard the regional jet that had just landed also were injured.
Although the operator of the fire truck had received permission to cross the runway, an air traffic controller later ordered them to stop several times.
Flights were diverted to other airports after the crash and LaGuardia is expected to remain closed until mid-day Monday.
The NTSB is investigating.
