NC Man Arrested for Impersonating a Firefighter at a Scene

A Lindwood man was arrested Sunday for impersonating a firefighter.

Cody Lee Herring, 21, a former volunteer firefighter, was at the scene of a medical emergency in Linwood, according to local television station WBTW.

He was attempting to help at the scene when firefighters ordered him to leave and called 911, according to Sheriff David Grice.

Officials don't know how Herring knew about the call or why he showed up at the scene.

He is due back in court on Oct. 24.
