Off-duty NY Firefighter Charged with Menacing Firefighters

Daryl Pace is accused of menacing Cortland firefighters with a long gun as they flushed a fire hydrant.

The Ithaca fire chief says a firefighter who aimed a gun at a crew from another department will remain on active duty.

Ithaca firefighter Daryl Pace, 33, was in the driveway of her Cortland home with a long gun while Cortland firefighters flushed a fire hydrant.

Pace did not say anything to the crew, who left the area when they saw the gun, according to the Ithaca Voice

She was charged fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, second-degree obstruction of governmental administration and second-degree menacing.

"We didn't see that there was a threat to her, to our employees, or the community as a whole," Ithaca Fire Chief Tom Parsons said.

Police confiscated her gun.
