Second-Generation Firefighter Named FL Chief

Jeffrey Davidson, a veteran Florida firefighter who had been Boynton Beach's deputy chief for almost three years, will become the new fire chief for Haines City.

HAINES CITY — Boynton Beach's deputy fire chief will be Haines City's next chief, City Manager Deric Feacher announced Thursday.

Jeffrey Davidson, a 30-year veteran of fire and emergency services, is an experienced Florida firefighter, starting his career in Hollywood, where he served for 24 years. By the time he left Hollywood to work for the Seminole Tribe of Florida, he had been promoted to Battalion Chief.

He has worked for Boynton Beach as its deputy for almost three years, according to his online resume.

"I am pleased that someone with Chief Davidson's experience and knowledge is joining the city's team as the leader of the Fire Department," Deputy City Manager Jeffrey Brown said in a release. "I believe he will be an asset to the city and the citizens."

Davidson, a U.S. Army reservist from 1987, when he graduated high school, until 1995, has also earned a master's degree in emergency and disaster management from Barry University and a number of professional certifications, including the Chief Fire Officer designation from the Commission on Professional Credentialing.

He is a second-generation firefighter. The city said he is dedicated to firefighter safety and health, a major concern as the health effects of the job on firefighters are currently under deep scrutiny. The city said Davidson intends to improve overall firefighter safety at the workplace, while responding to emergency and on the scene of an incident.
