UT Firefighters Get Nails Painted to Calm Girl in Crash

Two Utah firefighters adopted an unusual approach when it came to calming an upset young girl in an auto accident over the weekend. Their unorthodox tactic? Impromptu manicures.
North Davis Fire District Chief Allen Hadley and Capt. Kevin Lloyd were part of the response to a crash Saturday in Clearfield that involved a child who was uninjured but "very scared," the department stated in an online post. When the firefighters saw the girl was holding bottles of fingernail polish, they asked her if she would add some color to their cuticles.
"Within minutes, the child was calmly paining their nails and had forgotten about the accident she had just experienced," the department stated in a Facebook update that also included photos of the firefighters' new metallic purple look.
As of Wednesday morning, the fire district's post has been shared more than 5,000 times and received more than 750 comments.
"Kudos to these great guys that serve our community, it's just the little things that make a huge difference," Fire Chief Mark Becraft stated in a comment praising the firefighters' quick, fashion-forward thinking.
No one was seriously injured in the accident, according to The Associated Press.
