Retired Prince George's County, MD, Firefighter Accused of Raping Youth in the '90s
A retired Prince George's County firefighter has been charged with raping and sexual abusing a youth involved in a fire station program.
John Inman, 61, was charged with second-degree rape, perverted practice, child abuse and second-degree assault. He is being held in jail without bail, WJLA reported.
The victim told investigators he joined the Hyattsville Fire Department as a junior firefighter when he was 13. That's where he met Inman, then 27, a county employee.
Inman allegedly performed sexual acts on the victim in the fire station, at his house and in a classroom at the University of Maryland.
The victim said the incidents occurred until he was 17.
Inman retired in 2017, and moved to South Carolina.
The investigation is continuing.
