A new program will pay for future firefighters to get the certification they need to join the Sacramento Fire Department. The $500,000 grant is funded by the California Community College Chancellor's Office. The Sacramento Fire Department hasn't decided how much will be spent per candidate, per year, but officials said most people spend as much as they would on a community college education.
