Several hundreds of firefighters and first responders who battled the recent Southern California wildfires attended a special appreciation day held by the Los Angeles Dodgers.

The Los Angeles Dodgers thanked several hundred firefighters and first responders for battling the recent Southern California wildfires by inviting them for a day of on-field batting practice Wednesday.

"Today is about thanking them," Naomi Rodriguez, Dodgers vice president of external affairs, told KNBC-TV. "Today is about bringing them joy,"

Shortstop Corey Seager and third baseman Justin Turner also were on hand for the special appreciation day. They signed jerseys and posed for photos.

"It's a great stress reliever," Los Angeles City firefighter Ryan Ramirez told KNBC. "Yesterday, I got off 72-hour shift. I'm off today, then go back for another 96 hours."

"This is awesome. I'm a huge fan, grew up with Dodgers," Los Angeles County firefighter Danielle McMillon added. My husband is super jealous I'm here. My daughters are like, 'What? You get to go?"
