CO Firefighter Surprises Kids after Deployment

Brighton firefighter Owen McKeough had been overseas for 10 months but was coming home early. So he decided to surprise his son, 10, and two daughters, 6 and 3.

A Colorado firefighter surprised his three children Friday after he returned home early from a 10-month Army Reserve deployment.

Owen McKeough, a firefighter and paramedic for the Brighton Fire Rescue District, had been in Romania since March, supervising a military police patrol, KCNC-TV reports. When he discovered he was returning early, McKeough worked with his department to set up a surprise for his son, 10, and two daughters, 6 and 3.

The Brighton firefighters set up a fake training drill and invited McKeough's family for dinner, something the department did while the firefighter was deployed. McKeough was dressed in firefighting gear for the surprise.

"I’m going to have the bunker jacket, the pants on. I’m going to have the mask on, so that’s why they won’t be able to really see me," McKeough told the TV station.
