A recenlty promoted Prince George's County firefighter is being held without bond on child pornography charges.
Investigators, working on a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, determined Lt. Joshua Murphy used the wi-fi at the Chillum fire station to upload child pornography on his phone, WJLA reported.
Confronted at the station when he was arrested, Murphy, the married father of two, allgedly told police there were more images of nude prepubescent girls on his phone, according to court documents obtained by reporters.
“These allegations are deeply disturbing. Allegations of this nature are particularly disturbing and concerning when they involve individuals that hold the public’s trust, individuals who are in positions of trust, especially those like firefighters who have access to our homes and families,” Prince George’s County State’s Attorney Tara Jackson said after a bond hearing Monday afternoon.
The judge agreed that Murphy is a danger to the community and ordered him to remain in jail.
Murphy's attorney had asked for him to be evaluated, claiming he suffered from a voyeuristic disorder.
