"Life is too short," South Beloit, IL, Fire Chief Says Leaving Post after Nine Days
“Life is too short. I have decided to spend more time working in and experiencing Alaska."
With that, South Beloit Fire Chief Scott Fisher decided to resign -- less than 10 days after he raised his right hand.
Fisher started as a volunteer in 1985 and has been fire chief in small towns in both Alaska and Wisconsin, WTVO reported.
In a Jan. 13 letter to city officials, Fisher wrote: “This decision was a very difficult one. I regret to inform you that I am resigning as the South Beloit Fire Chief effective immediately. This city and the fire department have much potential. I thank everyone who has been so kind to me in this short time. I wish you continued success in rebuilding the department. Personnel are your most important resource. Continue to take care of them."
