Cincinnati Fire Chief Preparing for Five Percent Budget Cut
Cincinnati Fire Chief Frank McKinley was asked to come up with a plan for a five percent budget cut.
The request came on the day a resident died in a house fire, WLWT reported.
"Life safety is our number one priority. We don't want the public to be alarmed about not having service or having less of a service."
He discussed delaying a recruit class and minimizing overtime. Also, 92 percent of the budget pays salaries.
The department's 874 firefighters respond to about 100,000 calls annually.
