Wells River, VT, Firefighter Arrested after Crashing En Route to Call
Wells River firefighter Andrew Hayward was taken into custody after he allegedly ran a stop sign and collided with another vehicle while responding to a call.
A firefighter from the Wells River Volunteer Fire Department was taken into custody after being involved in a crash while responding to an emergency incident.
Firefighter Andrew Hayward, 20, was traveling to an incident June 12 in his personal vehicle with its emergency warning lights activated, the Vermont State Police told WCAX.
Officials say Hayward allegedly failed to stop at a stop sign at an intersection in Newbury and collided with another vehicle.
A 53-year-old woman who was in the other vehicle was transported to the hospital for injuries.
Police arrested Hayward and charged him with negligent operation.
He is set to appear in court for the charge in August.
